| 89 | Aveling & Porter 8 ton steaoller | Originally owned by Eddison’s, it was loaned to the Sherwin Knight Infant School, Stroud, Kent at the end of its working life as a climbing frame. The Children lovingly painted it a different colour each year until it was condemned by the Health & Safety Inspector. Purchased by the present owners in 1980, it then underwent an extensive rebuild that included a new fire-box, boiler-barrel, tube-plate and the manufacture of numerous other components. This was completed over a period of 14½ years at Derek Marder’s Yard at Andover. In 2014, apart from the usual winter maintenance a new set of tubes were also fitted. Shown with the engine is a Living Van, this would have been the living accommodation for the driver and family when the engine was out working; it was purchased from the council yard at Fleet in the 1985 where it was still being used as a tea hut and general store, it took over 5 years to completely rebuild. It is believed to be an Ex Eddison van built in the 1920’s. This engine travels under its own steam to all of the events it attends with up to 40 miles being covered in a single day. |

Work carried out over the winter of 2023/24 included replacement of the firebox crown stays, overhaul of motion work, rear roll plating and hub bearings along with general maintenance and fettling as well as renewal of the 10 year hydraulic certificate. |

It was bought new by kings at pink mead farm Boltley, it was acquired by Fred baker in 2000 and restored to current condition, it has now been passed down to his 2 grandchildren and is driven by Josh Abraham. |
